rn schools in california:The Importance of Becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse

If you are a person who has selected nursing as your career, you should know that nursing is a rewarding as well as a satisfaction-providing profession. The main thing to be noted is that the question of where to begin should be carefully answered. There are many ways to pursue the training for nursing. One way is to choose a nursing college, where you have to spend 4 years of hard learning and training, to achieve the bachelor's degree in nursing, and to certify as an RN. The LPN-Licensed-Vocational-Nurse-LVN/">Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN-Licensed-Vocational-Nurse-LVN/">LVN) training is an optional method for this, which can help you save quite some time!

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are also referred to as Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) in few regions. The primary function of LVNs works around bedside care, drug administration and adjuvant vital care. Registered Nurses (RNs) constitute the highest percentage of nursing workforce. A four-year college healthcare program is the educational criterion. The licensure and registration process follows industry certification regulations. RNs undergo medical training in specialties like emergency medicine, gynecology and many others. The job function is higher as they work directly under doctors. RNs can undergo further healthcare training to become nurse practitioners.

Now, because of the current high rate of competition for getting into RN programs, there are more available LVN programs. The LVN also has an advantage in case he or she wishes to obtain an RN. Because most of the training programs offered for RNs will give preference to those with experience in the field.

A Licensed Vocational Nurse, or LVN, is the basic nursing certification. In order to be an LVN, you have to complete high school with a high GPA (3.0 or above ). It is advisable to take the SAT or ACT exam. Although these exams are not requirements to earn an LVN, many LVNs eventually go on to earn RN or BSN degree, which do require these test. You have to register yourself in a one year program involving work in a hospital setting, at a college or a vocational program after high school. LVNs take much less time to complete the requirements compare to RNs or BSN. After you completed the rn schools in california approved by the state's board of nursing, you need to take and pass the NCLEX-PN exam. It is called NCLEX-PN because in many states a Licensed Vocational Nurse or LVN is known as LPN or Licensed Practical Nurse.

After passing the NCLEX-PN exam, and after working in a hospital or other medical setting for a certain period of time, consider enrolling in an LVN-to-RN program. This is a common career move for many LVNs who find that they desire more diverse responsibilities in their jobs. The cost involved to become an LVN is definitely less than the cost of becoming an RN or BSN. But you can always try to apply for financial aid if possible.
